Why

When working with information we constantly observe the same problems:

If a thing is not culture-wide known, if it is specific to you problem domain or to your group – give it a name and describe it once, and use only this term everywhere within this context.

This will increase the structuredness of your knowledge as well, since while giving explanation to a thing you will think about how it differs from and correlates to others.

It seems obvious. But why then people don’t do it? Answer is also obvious – people don’t have convenient tools for working with terminology of any size greater than trivial.

Use

How to use it:

  • Open a Microsoft Word document for editing
  • To create a term, select word(s) and press CTRL+D to make it a term
  • To insert reference to a term into the current place of the text, press CTRL+SPACE, select a term (by typing it), and press ENTER

Of course, you may use Microsoft Word ribbon bar buttons to do the same.
